ADOPTION from India
Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA), Ministry of Women & Child Development, Government of India is the nodal body for adoption of Indian children and is mandated to monitor and regulate in-country and inter-country adoptions. CARA is designated as the Central Authority to deal with inter-country adoptions in accordance with the provisions of the Hague Convention on Inter-country Adoption, 1993, ratified by Government of India in 2003. Prospective Adoptive Parents (PAPs) in Spain desiring to adopt any child or children from India may wish to obtain relevant information from the source mentioned above and follow the procedure outlined.
Embassy shall attest documents of prospective adoptive parents submitted by the foreign authorities/agencies before these are sent to CARA, (wherever the 1961 Hague Convention on Abolishing Requirement of Legalization for Foreign Public Documents is not applicable). At the time of bringing documents for attestation, it may be ensured that duly authenticated English translation of the documents in Spanish is enclosed.
