Hay Festival in Segovia and Valladolid, September 2013

As in the previous years, India had a marked presence in the Hay Festival in Segovia and Valladolid - an annual event that has gained much repute.

A double homage was paid - to Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore and Late Shri Rituparno Ghosh - through the screening of Shri Ghosh’s documentary on Tagore entitled ‘Jeevan Smriti’. The screening was done on 27th September in Valladolid and on 28th September in Segovia. In both cases, the documentary was introduced and presented by noted London based writer-director, Ms. Sangeeta Dutta. The screening of the documentary was brought about through efforts of the Mission and Casa de la India.

Sahitya Akademi Award and Sangeet Natak Akademi Award winner distinguished poet and dramatist Shri H.S. Shivaprakash, presented a talk titled ‘Shakespeare on the Indian Stage’ in Valladolid University as part of the festival. A recital by Shri Shivaprakash of his poems in the Segovia Library was organized on 28th September.
