Splendid performance of Parvathy Baul closes the "Voices of Indian Women" concerts

Parvathy Baul, the famous Sufi music singer from the Baul tradition of Bengal (India), had a splendid performance at Casa de la India, Valladolid on February 21. She is one of the first women to study, and now teach, the Baul singing technique which was only practiced by men for centuries in northwestern India. Her encounter with Baul's tradition led her to choose the path of self-learning. She has since 1995 performed throughout India and at international festivals. Her performance marked the end of the series of concerts "Voices of Indian Women" at Casa de la India, Valladolid
